Biography – Iain S Byrne

Iain was born in North Yorkshire and during his childhood developed a fascination for the wildlife around his home. He soon realised that he wanted to record his observations and bought his first camera. It was from that moment Iain became as passionate about photography as he was about nature. It was not until 1996 however, that he was in a position to merge his two passions and start on the road to becoming a professional animal and wildlife photographer.

Iain particularly enjoys photographing British wildlife and has travelled throughout the UK in search of images. He spent time in Utah, USA where he was commissioned by the US Fish and Wildlife Service, Bear River to provide some of the images for their new education centre.

Iain’s images can often be seen at exhibitions throughout the northwest, and he has had successful exhibitions at the Visitor Center, Stanley Park, Blackpool, with the Association of Animal Artists at Salmesbury Hall near Preston and at the Ashton Gallery, Williamson Park, Lancaster.

Many of Iain’s images have received recognition in international photographic salons throughout the UK, Europe, USA and Australia. This acheivement has recently been recognised by the Photographic Society of America by a three star exhibition rating. He has also been awarded a Licentiateship in Photography by the Society of International Nature and Wildlife Photographers and the Royal Photographic Society.
